Routine
The moment I wake up, before I put on my make up, I say a little prayer (for me). Ok, so, I really do have pray/meditate as the first thing on my list to do. I don't think they're the same thing, and I don't think you need to do both of them, but I would highly recommend doing at least one of them. While they're are different you could use them in a similar way to go over your day, mentally prepare for what you need to do, and generally get you head straight - relaxed and ready for the game. I like these at the very beginning of the routine list because they are fairly easy to get done and it allows me to feel like I'm moving along my routine and doing what I should. Conversely, sometimes it's easy to skip because it well, it may be easy, but it's even easier to skip it (probably because it's easy). I say easier to skip but it's the kind of easy to skip that is more or less unnoticeable or easy to forget about. Harder stuff you may remember but just think I don't need to do that today but you really don't want to because it takes too much time or mental effort. Anyway. I usually have gone over some stuff the night before so I think through those things, or I imagine waiting for an ideal trade, seeing what needs to happen and taking the trade, and then going over the variations that could play out. I will sometimes just think about the day, or sometimes I'll do more of the focus on my breathing and just being. One of the things that I want to read about and study is getting into a flow state. I liked what was said in Atomic Habits by James Clear that he thinks that we get in a Flow state when our brain is functioning on multiple levels, that is the more reflexive state and analytical state, and we're using them both at the same time, kind of riding the line between them or using them both simultaneously. Anyway. That's my step one of the day. What's nice is that Step one can be done anytime of the day. It can be used after a particularly nerve bending trade, or if I'm just feeling anxious - maybe I'm feeling some FOMO or know there's something else bothering me. It doesn't take long and it's always available as an option. Alright, now I think I'm done. I'll be going over more of my routine as time goes by. It might change but I think I have a pretty good routine for me right now and there are things that I am still working on doing regularly. What's your routine? Or maybe, what is the first part of your routine? Going to take a whiz or dump doesn't count.... Cheers!
